About Wildzone
The Wildzone is an outdoor, wild adventure and activity playground stretching across Cumbria, from the cool coast of the Western Lake District, to the rugged terrain around Hadrian's Wall, the inspiring uplands, character-filled towns and villages and verdant hills of the Eden Valley and the well-known lakes and valleys of the South Lakes. Add to this the lesser-known Furness Peninsula and the stunning coastal landscape around Morecambe Bay, as well as the areas in which the Lake District meets the Yorkshire Dales - including the velvety Howgills and the rippling waters of the River Lune - and the Wildzone is an amazing place to explore, engage with and embrace.
Every twist in the road delivers a new vista and with it a chance to explore new habitats, whether on foot, on a bicycle, while paddling a canoe, or during a drive to your wild destination. Combining adventure with an admiration of flora and fauna can create an adrenalin-filled experience and tales to tell of how you focused the scope on the stag while traversing the stream, or how you observed the osprey fishing in the lake during your first ever orienteering day out.
Our mission is to showcase our wow factor wildlife and enable even the most inexperienced nature explorer to pull on some boots, warm to a waterproof and twig what's going on in our incredible natural wild adventure zone. To make this a nature-friendly, responsible and sustainable goal, we have formed a dynamic group of public and private sector organisations, all dedicated to protecting our natural environment, but realising that the best way to protect anything is to learn to appreciate it, value it and fall a little bit in love with it.
Once you have explored our fabulous forests, lakes, mountains, valleys and coastline, we are sure you will agree that going wild is in your nature and there's no better place to discover your inner wild child than in the Wildzone.
